Organizational History
Barnabas Group, a religious non-profit organization was formed June 2006. Its overall purpose is to spread the good news of Christ and promote fellowship, unity and healing. The Barnabas Group concept was discussed in 2001 when a gathering of ministers articulated the need to form an organization that would come alongside and serve the felt needs of individual Christians and ministry organizations alike. This type of ministry, modeled by Barnabas in Acts chapters 9, 13 & 15, emphasizes listening, supporting and promoting the ministry of others. The primary purpose of Barnabas Group came into focus June 2003 when the founder, John Setser, was asked to assist certain church staff associates who had experienced workplace abuse. After this and many other experiences a book detailing workplace abuse in the church was written. In June 2006 the decision was made to develop a website and form a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the ministries of individuals and organizations, especially as it pertains to workplace fairness in the church.
